Ana stumbled through the door and slung her bags under the stairs.
phewwwwwwwwww
Her day had seemed to go on forever!
As she always did, she ambled into the kitchen to throw together some form of "healthy, nutritious" meal, usually consisting of the words, "super," and "noodles".
She walked to the back door and opened it, letting the early morning light shine through.
Yes, she had been at work all night.
It was now, roughly 4.00 in the morning, and thank God Ana had the day off!
It would seem weird to mostpeople, to be making a dinner- like concuction at 4 in the morning, but to Ana, it was neither common or uncommon.
Jazz bounded in the back door.
He had been out for ages, poor wee soul, but it never seemed to bother him.
The garden in Ana's house was the largest in the street.
It was wide and long, with a large rolling lawn, lush green from wet weather, and it had flower beds everywhare ( A secret habit of Ana's is gardening).
At the bottom of the seemingly neverending garden there is a large horsechestnut tree, tall and regal.
And a royal pain in the butt.
When you're sitting on the garden bench, placed directly under the tree with it's back leaning against the trunk, it's not the most desireable thing to have big, hard horsechestnuts falling on your head!
Jazz was in doggy heaven in this garden, so Ana never felt too guilty leaving him outside alot.
After all, dogs are born to live outdoors, they're wild animals!
After breathing in some crisp morning air ( the first taste of fresh air she'd had in a long time!) she let Jazz slink past her legs into the large, warm kitchen, and lie down by the Aga, before shutting the back door and turning towards the freezer.
now.....what to eat.....?
She riffled aimlessly through the frozen food until her hand slipped on to an icy packet of Denny sausages. Yum.
She shoved these into the microwave and set it to "defrost".
In the cupboard she found a slightly ancient tim of beans, an expired can of soup, and a jar of Uncle Ben's sweet n sour sauce.
Perfect She thought as she clutched the jar of sauce in her hand.
In a matter of 10 minutes she had boiled some rice, and mase herself a lovely meal of Sweet n sour sausages!
As she fed the left over sausage to Jazz, the phone rang.
From caller ID, she saw that it was Jake, so she picked up her dinner in one hand, and took the phone into the living room with her.
"Jake!" She said, pleased.
"Um, no. This is Ashley, his girlfriend. I was just looking through his contacts, and i wondered who you were."
Ana dropped the phone. Her head was spinning.
How could the bastard DO this to her?!
Somewhere in the distance, she could faintly hear a woman's voice calling her name.
She hung up.
Her eyes were rapidly filling up with tears, and spilling down her cheeks.
She put the food aside, and ran upstairs.
She lay on her bed, racking with heavy sobs.
After 20 mins the phone rang again.
It was Jake
"We need to talk," He said as she answered.
"I have nothing to say to you. We're finished."
And with that she hung up.
She stood up and walked downstairs, wiping any remaining tears from her eyes.
She was gonna get over this.
Just float through.
He's not worth the trouble anyway
And amazingly, she did get over it. All the pain and anger melted away.
All the dread and fear of being alone vanished.
It was possibly the quickest rebound in history.
She calmly sat down, ate her meal, washed up, and brought Jazz up to her room.
She put on her PJs and tried to drift to sleep, but it was that darned insomnia again.......
as if her savior of boredom, the phone rang.
It was Amelie.
"Hey Petal," Amelie said, yawning.
"Me and Jake are finished" said Ana bluntly.
"Oh sweetie are you alright?"
"You dont normally call me this many pet names," Ana replied pointedly.
"Don't worry, I've worked alnight, i'm entitled to be out of it!"
"Mmmmm...same here. But I'm good."
"You off today?"
"Yep. you wanna grab some lunch and hit the shops?"
"I'll have to see but i'd love to."
