Kirsten walked over to the swings and sat on one. She was happy that Paula's husband, Kyle, had agreed to with his daughter's name. Kirsten Paula Dawn Larson.
Kirsten sighed," She's so cute and at least Paula got to see her daughter before she passed away. Still it doesn't make it any easier though."
She sat swinging slightly, when this boy of about the age ten came over and sat on the swing beside her.
"Aren't you supposed to be at school?" she asked.
"No, the school's closed for the day.Teacher training,"
"Oh, so why aren't you out with any of your friends?"
"They're all away doing something. I wish Jack was still here."
"Why what happened to him?"
"He died. He was out rock climbing, when he slipped and fell. He was in the ICU in St Merediths for about 2-3 weeks."
"What was his surname?"
"Bauer, Jack Bauer,"
"Bauer,Bauer,Bauer,Bauer. Oh Bauer now I remember him. They tried everything they could to save him, but he just wasn't responding to anything. I'm sorry!" she stated, trying to comfort him.
"It doesn't matter, I miss him but I know it was for the best."
Kirsten started swinging again.
"Hey, how about we have a swinging race se who get's the highest first, eh, waddya say?"
"Oh please, swinging is sooooooooo last century!"
"I beg to differ,"
"Fine your on."
"On the count of three ok? and what's your name?"
"Ok, Gavin,"
"Three!"
They started swinging at the same time.
"I'm gonna beat you!"
"No your not," she retorted.
"Ha, I told you I'd beat yowaaaaaaaaaa," just at that minute his swing collasped and the bar it was attached to came crashing on top of him.
"Holy shit! Gavin? GAVIN are you ok?" there was no sound that answered back. Then she saw blood running from underneath the heap of metal. She ran over to it and with all her strength pushed it away. There he was, lying on the ground, blood coming from his head like a stream.
"Oh god!" she pulled out her mobile and called for an ambulance.
"911. Hello? yes I'm at Recreational Gardens, a boy is bleeding severley from a head trauma. The swing frame collasped on him. 5 minutes ok. I know what to do until you get here, thank you and be quick!" she hung up and bent down over him. She checked to see if he was breathing. She didn't feel anything. She checked to see if he had a pulse, it was faint, very faint.
"Come on don't give up," she whispered. She looked him up and down and then she realised that one of the bars had piereced his side.
"SHIT!"
She sat beside him and kept an eye on his pulse."Hurry up god damn you!" then she heard the sirens.
She saw the paramedics and waved them over to her.
"What happened?"
"We were swinging and the frame collasped."
"Ok stand back, we need room to work on him. Michelle, we won't be able to get him to the hospital like this, we need the emergency helicopter."
"Right," Michelle answered back and she ran to the ambulance to call for one.
"Is he going to be ok?"
"Ma'am stand back, if you want him to live you have to let us work on him,"
"They're on their way!"
"Good!"
They were putting all the life saving equipment on him. The leads to check his vitals and hi pulse which was decreasing by the second.
"They better hurry up, he's not gonna last long,"
Kirsten just stood there rooted to the ground. She was frozen on the spot. Then a voice whispered in her ear, Go to the hospital and wait for him there, he'll be ok, trust me, it's not his time yet!
"David?" she asked turning around.
"Pardon?"
"What? Oh nothing, I...I've got somewhere I need to be."
She turned around and ran all the way back to the hospital.
