Amélie flew in through the doors of Heavenly Mall, 47 seconds late. She saw Callum and Callie waiting for her inside. "I am soooo sorry I'm late," she apologised. "I was in such a rush; I woke up late!" She had been in a rush this morning (she had slept late, thanks to Lucas), and had only just had time to curl her hair quickly with her GHDs and apply a thin coat of eyeliner before noticing the time and, swearing in French, driving like hell to the Mall.

"No problem," said Callie, smiling at Amélie and quickly masking her annoyance of her lateness. She had this thing about punctuality, and she couldn't stand it if someone was late. If they weren't there on the dot, it drove her absolutely mental! "Now, Cal," said Callum, nudging her. "Amélie's dirty little boyfriend probably kept her busy." He winked at Amélie and mock-whispered, "The things I've heard!" "Shut up, Cal," said Callie sweetly. "We don't want you acting like this, we'll all boke up our breakfast." "Well, that won't do!" he cried, looking slightly hurt. "Your dresses will be ruined!" He sniffed. "After all those hours I'm going to spend picking out the exact dress that brings out your eyes, or flatters your figure or- " "Shut it!" laughed Callie. "Never mind talking about it- why don't you actually do something?" "Aah, yes!" he said, clapping his hands. "Shopping! Are we ready?" Callie rolled her eyes, and Amélie nodded expectantly. Callie smiled. She knew that Amélie was going to be impressed. Callum had a very unique sense of style, and he would not fail them! After all... he'd turned up at their prom in a pink tux!

Amélie smiled, still feeling guilty about being about a minute late. "This is going to be interesting," she said, with a hint of her French accent, smiling and rubbing her arm self consciously (as was her habit) at the "dirty little boyfriend' comment. She followed Callie and Callum - er, Cal and Cal - to the formal wear shop. This was going to be very interesting. A Parisian and a gay guy. She looked at Callum's outfit and noticed how tastefully he was dressed. This would be fun. "So," she said, facing the two of them. "Who's going first?"

Callie grinned. "The more important question is where we're going first." She looked at Callum expectantly. He paused thoughtfully. "I'd like to do a bit of browsing. There's Trashed... some very, ahem, gothic formal dresses in there... there's Asda! You'd be surprised! Er... Red-Necked Rodeo, they have some great shoes, then there's E. N. Smyth's, which stocks both male and female formal wear. However, we might wanna stick to the old classic of Belle & Mode. What d'you think girls?" Callie grinned weakly, as each name went over her head. "Whatever!" He looked Amélie up and down critically. "We'll dress you first. I can sort Callie in a couple of minutes- I know exactly what works for her. But you'll take longer, and we need more browsing time." He looked at them both. "To use Amélie's lingo... oui?" "Oui," said Callie, looking at Amélie.

Amélie laughed. "Oui, je pense qui est une bonne idée." She was met with uncomprehending looks. "I think that's a good idea," she translated, hiding a smile. "So, Amélie, where would you like to go to?" Callum said. "Well..." she pondered. "I have no idea what most of these places are since I haven't looked at formalwear here. But I can probably say that I might not find anything in Trashed - I left the Goth thing behind about seven years ago. And maybe not in em... Red-Necked Rodeo. So..." She laughed and raised her hands in a helpless gesture. "Honestly, I have no idea where we should go! Help me out here!"

"Like I said, you'd be surprised," smiled Callum, his eyes sparkling. "But you are french! The B&M would be a very gut choice for you!" "Ooh!" giggled Callie. "Ja, gut! Daß Platz ist gut!" "Gut is practically all the German you know," sneered Callum playfully. Callie hung her head, apparently hurt. "I know a little..." "Like?" he asked, raising his eyebrows. "Tag!" she laughed. "Guten Morgen! Wie gehts?" "Prima!!!" "Oh!" said Callum, turning to Amélie, who looked slightly confused. "Sorry, she's french. Anyway, shall we go?" He offered an arm to each woman, and Callie grabbed him, laughing. "Always the gentlemen." "Always," he agreed, offering an arm to Amélie.

Amélie laughed and took his arm. He led them to Belle & Mode, chattering all the way there. Callum was really hilarious. Amélie had never met anyone so camp, and it was really very funny. When they were in the shop, Callum turned to Amélie, looking at her critically. "So what color did you have in mind?" Amélie looked around the shop. "Nothing bright, I don't want to look like a rainbow on E... I was thinking black?" she said. "What do you think?"

Callum arched his eyebrows critically. "Out of the Goth stage?" Callie giggled. He had a point. Callum put his hands on his hips, although whether it was deliberately or subconsiously Callie couldn't tell. "Black... hmm, yes, but black's so... blah! Besides, your hair's brown and your eyes are blue... why not compliment them more?"

Amélie raised an eyebrow. "My hair isn't brown, it's fair." "Dishwater!" Callum laughed. She frowned at him. "No, it's fair." She felt like a six year old again. Her hair was naturally this color, it wasn't an attempt to dye brown hair blonde. When she was younger, some of the meaner kids teased her about it, saying it was the color of dirty dishwater. Whatever. They just had solid color hair. Hers was - what was the word? Multi-tonal. Much more interesting. Besides, most of those girls ended up bleaching their hair. She had nice hair that she liked. And it was a lot healthier than theirs because she had never bleached it or dyed it. So who won? She smiled. "I'll ignore the Goth comment. What sort of dress do you have in mind?"
((OOC: Brown? Brown?! I know the pixels didn't come out entirely right, but you do watch Grey's Anatomy - it is quite obviously not brown!))

Callie rolled her eyes at Callum. "He doesn't mean it, Amélie! I get mass of coal-coloured worms." Callum sighed. "You think you got it bad? I'm beautiful, soft black curls, gleaming and gorgeous, black as- " "Your hair is just as unruly and wiry as mine," grumbled Callie, shoving him. "Never!" he cried, outraged. "Can't you see what this description does to me?" "Compliments you, and swells your already over-large head?" she said, raising her eyebrows. "No!" he cried dramatically, raising his eyes to the heavens. "It insults my masculinity! It makes me feminine- I shudder to think that I have such beautiful hair! Why? WHHHHHHY- oh, hello!" Callum leant around Callie, eyes gleaming, moving down the shop in a state of complete excitment. "Amélie! Amélie! It's black! Look! Honey, I swear if you ain't wearing that dream to the prom then you are shunned! You hear? Look!" With a flourish, he pulled out the dress, and held it up for Amélie to see.

Amélie followed the banter between Callum and Callie with confusion, wondering what on earth Callum was on about. Callum's eyes widened and he moved down the shop. "Amélie! Amélie! It's black! Look! Honey, I swear if you ain't wearing that dream to the prom then you are shunned! You hear? Look!" He pulled out a black dress. Amélie followed him. He held the dress up, grinning triumphantly. Amélie raised her eyebrows, impressed. "Nice! I'm very impressed." The dress was a black satin material, strapless, with a bodice that was laced up at the back. The skirt was long and straight. Amélie smiled as she studied it. "Very impressed! Let me try it on!" She took the dress and went to the changing rooms. She changed out of her black blouse and dark jeans and slipped on the dress. The satin felt luxurious on her skin. She attempted to lace it up herself, then realised she couldn't. "Callie?" she called, holding the dress up. "Can you come in here and lace this up please?"

Callie dipped her head in, and swore. "Fuck, Amélie!" She stood, smiling at her. "I may not know much about fashion- but I do know you look beautiful!" Callie came over, and began to lace Amélie's dress up, looking enviously at her reflection. Amélie was beautiful. What she wouldn't give... She stood back, admiring her. "Lucas will drop down dead when he sees you."

"It's not Lucas I'm worried about," Amélie said, thinking briefly of Adam and smiling at her reflection. Wow, she looked pretty. That wasn't something she usually saw... The dress was really flattering, and it showed off her chest, which was always a good thing! Callie frowned. "Long story," Amélie said, before she could ask. "Very long story." Callum called in. "Hurry up!" "Callum, I need shoes," she said, opening the curtain. "Black heels, because I'm short. Do they do shoes in here?"

Callum was already prepared. Covering his eyes, he leant in and tossed a pair of black shoes, a black shawl, and a clutch bag after her. "I want to see the full thing," he called in. "Oh! I can't wait!" Callie smiled out at him. Such enthusiasm. How come she didn't feel like that whenever she shopped? She was the bloody girl!

Amélie grinned at Callum. He was so enthusiastic about it - even she wasn't that excited. She put the shoes on - they were black and exactly the right height. High enough to make her seem normal height and low enough to dance in. She put the almost see-through black wrap around her shoulders. She didn't really want one, but then again, it was February. Even with global warming, it was still pretty darn cold. The clutch bag was pretty - black with diamante bead things - was there even a proper word for them? - were scattered over it. She smiled at Callie nervously. Callum was nice, but Amélie had the nervous feeling that if he was displeased, he would not hold back about saying so. She opened the curtain. "Well?"
