Name: Callie Rebecca Black
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Status: Married
Position: Intern, but plans to specialize in psychology
Height: 5"5
Hair Colour: Very dark, curly brown
Eye Colour: Hazel
Picture:
Celebrity/Face: Katie Melua
Personality: Callie is outgoing, and fun-loving. She cares a lot about her friends and family, and is also very ambitious. The reason she plans to specialize in psychology is because she just wants to get out there and help people. After all, if you can't make people happy, what's the point of being a doctor at all?
Past: When Callie was 2 years old, her brother, Jeremy, was born. Jeremy wasn't really what Callie had expected in a brother. He didn't play with her, and he didn't look up whenever she talked to him. Jeremy didn't really talk either, not even baby babble. She didn't get it. Other kids had baby brothers or sisters who were lots of fun. Why wasn't hers?
Callie quickly came to understand that Jeremy wasn't like other kids. Jeremy was 'special' and this meant he was going to have some problems. What she didn't know at the time, was that Jeremy had been diagnosed with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder), so he was never ever going to be the little brother she'd always dreamt of.
As she grew up, Callie came more and more to grips with this rare symdrome her brother had. Autism meant her brother lacked an understanding of the world around him. He had major social problems, which held him back in the educational field, and lacked an imagination as such. Jeremy took comfort in patterns and sequences, and the effects were catasphrophic if he was taken out of these. He'd no friends, and people were wary of his strange, eccentric behaviour.
Callie knew, from a young age, that she wanted to help people like her brother. She met the people who helped him, and learnt about all the different and interesting things she did. She learnt about other disabilities, such as ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and Asberger's Syndrome.
Callie met her husband, Harry Black, at medical school. He is also a top heart surgeon at St. Meredith's and they are now married with a 3 year old, Lisa.
Finally, Callie doesn't know how she'd have survived all these years without her best friend (and fellow intern) Callum Rogers, who has known he was gay from a young age. Callie and Callum actually met when they were 10 years old, when she beat him up for stealing one of her Ken dolls.
Other: She adores dogs.
